Listen, if you are struggling with feeling bad about your weight or loving your body or feeling good about how you look, here’s what’s up: you are worthy of all the love in the world. You are not the sum of your physical parts. Your body doesn’t define you. Anyone who would make you believe different is lying to you. And that voice in your head that tells you that you’re only deserving of love or that you’ll only be happy if you lose that weight or if your skin clears up or if you fix your hair is lying most of all. You deserve happiness and love and the excitement of life NOW. If you can’t hear over all those voices, I’ll remind you. You are so worth everything. I love you.

My tummy doesn’t have to be cute. It holds my internal organs.
My thighs don’t have to “crush men’s skulls”. I use them to carry myself.
My stretch marks don’t have to be tiger stripes I earned. They came when I grew.
Stop.

This!
I feel like even body positivity is too focused on, like, the appearance of the body. I know I became a whole lot happier with my body when I started thinking of it less in terms of how it looked (to me or anyone else) and realized, that, like…
When I feel cool breeze on my skin on a really hot day, my body did that for me.
When I step into a bath after a hike, and my muscles ache, but in a good way, and the steam all around me makes me feel like a flower blooming, my body did that for me.
And the hike before it, and standing on a large rock breathing the raw winter air seeing the power of the half-frozen river. That too.
When I’ve had a plate of pasta puttanesca, and I chopped and sauteed the ingredients and now I’m full-but-not-uncomfortable, and warm all over, and perfectly content, my body did that for me.
My body doesn’t have to look awesome to be awesome. It’s awesome because it’s where I live.

Some people have this “all or nothing” mentality when it comes to healthy living. You either run every day or you’re not a runner. You never have unhealthy thoughts at all or you’re not recovering. You have to never eat fast food or you’re not a healthy eater. You love yourself everyday and never have bad days or you’re not body positive.
Like this whole all or nothing mentality is toxic because people feel like if they’re not doing it all, then their progress is nothing & that’s not true.
It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Every little bit is a step to a better life.
So if you ran yesterday and today you’re not able to - you’re still a runner and I’m proud of you.
If yesterday you were “ok” but today you’ve fought the urge to restrict or purge since you woke up - you’re still recovering and I’m proud of you.
If today for the first time in weeks, you eat burgers and fries with friends or just on your lunch break - you’re still a healthy eater & I’m proud of you.
If you woke up this morning and immediately didn’t like yourself this morning, it’s okay - You’re still a body positive person & I’m proud of you.
Just take each day step by step, each run, each urge, each dining experience, each negative thought. Because it’s not all or nothing. It’s a little of this & a little of that & each piece turns progress.
How beautiful to find a heart that loves you, without asking you for anything, but to be okay.
Imagine what your body will look like 6 months from now if you keep strong.
rereblog this because it is really important reminder
a word of advice: open your windows. wash your sheets. exfoliate your legs. read a paperback. make your bed. moisturize every inch of your body. go to sleep with soft skin and sheets that smell like the wind and a mind full of words worth dreaming about
Sunday
Recover, recover, recover. Taking the day for my body to repair itself and to prepare for the week ahead. Each week you are a little stronger, a little fitter, and a little faster than the week previous. Trust the process, remain consistent and make time for important stuff like learning, friends, family, and other things you enjoy.
